Football Recap: Mt. Diablo Takes a Loss

Mt. Diablo fell victim to Acalanes and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Dons 56-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Dons: they've now lost three in a row.

Acalanes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Elerts led the charge by rushing for 171 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, Elerts is now averaging an impressive 111.8 rushing yards per game. Another passer making a difference was Tyler Winkles, who threw for 277 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes.

Mt. Diablo's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Acalanes, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Diablo will take on McClymonds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Acalanes, they will be playing at home against Benicia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
