Basketball Game Preview: Riverview Raiders vs. Frazier Commodores

Two dominant guards in Katerina Tsambis and Allie Yauch are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Riverview Raiders will be playing at home against the Frazier Commodores at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverview is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Last Thursday, Riverview beat Apollo Ridge 48-41. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Vikings are ranked 596th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tsambis and Isabel Chaparro were among the main playmakers for Riverview as the former posted 22 points and three steals and the latter went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Tsambis' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Bauer, who had five points in addition to 12 rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Frazier was beaten by Winchester Thurston 61-22 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with Winchester Thurston: they've now lost four in a row.

Riverview will have to contain Yauch as she made an impact in Frazier's last game. She put up 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Harger, who posted five points.

Riverview's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Frazier, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
