Softball Game Preview: Riverview Sharks vs. Bloomingdale Bulls

Riverview is 1-9 against Bloomingdale since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Riverview Sharks will take on the Bloomingdale Bulls at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Sharks fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Lennard on Tuesday.

Briyana Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Riverview got a big performance out of Juliet Sederio, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Peyton Stone was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bloomingdale gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over East Bay.

Natalie Cable made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Chloe Mathes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Paige Sanchez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Bloomingdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Bay only posted an OBP of .167.

Riverview suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Bloomingdale in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Riverview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
