Basketball Recap: Banning Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mary Star of the Sea two weeks ago, Banning came back down to earth. The Banning Pilots came up short against the Santa Cruz Cardinals on Thursday, falling 55-32.

Despite the loss, Banning still got an impressive performance from Joshlyn Harris, who posted eight points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Gonzales, who had 12 points.

Santa Cruz was led to victory by Mila Conn and Kina Espinosa. Conn put up 13 points and five steals, while Espinosa went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points and four steals. Sasha Wallan was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Banning has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Santa Cruz, they moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Banning didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-10 win against South East on the 3rd. As for Santa Cruz, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-26 victory against Robert F. Kennedy Community on the 3rd.
