Basketball Recap: Aleya Salazar Martella's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Turlock over Modesto

Turlock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-26 heartbreaker at the hands of the Modesto Panthers. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Turlock's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aleya Salazar Martella, who posted eight points along with seven boards and three steals. Cadence Campbell also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Modesto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allison Marchy, who had 12 points. Another player making a difference was Eshrajjit Rai, who put up seven points in addition to nine rebounds and four steals.

Turlock's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Modesto, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-13.

Turlock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-14 defeat against Gregori on the 30th. As for Modesto, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-33 loss against Enochs on the 30th.
