Albuquerque Academy and Taos squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Albuquerque Academy had to settle for second. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 25-24 to the Tigers. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Albuquerque Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Finn Thompson and Gage Conway.

Taos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Salazar, who threw for 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards and one TD. Those 400 passing yards gave Salazar a new career-high. Alejandro Ortega was Salazar's top target, picking up 138 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Albuquerque Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Taos, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Albuquerque Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Taos, they will take on Bloomfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats' defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
