Basketball Recap: Center Gets the Win

Center won the last time they faced Mira Loma, and Reniaya Applin did her part to make sure it happened again. The Center Cougars simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Mira Loma Matadors 61-10 thanks in part to Applin, who dropped a double-double with 31 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Center's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Laylarae Blake, who posted nine points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Center is 2-1 when Blake posts five or more steals, but 4-21 otherwise.

Center's win bumped their record up to 6-22. As for Mira Loma, their loss was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-23.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center will host Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mira Loma, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Oakmont at 6:00 p.m.
