Softball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell had lost seven straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 3-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Alameda Pirates, falling 24-13. If the Marauders were looking for revenge after losing 22-4 to the Pirates when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mitchell got a massive performance out of Jordyn Roberts, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Natalie Gaytan, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.

As for Alameda, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Alameda's side, they got a massive performance out of Zila Bobian, who fired off five runs, two triples, and two stolen bases while going 5-for-5. Those two triples gave Bobian a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Trujillo, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Alameda beat Mitchell by a score of 19-6 later that day.
