Basketball Recap: Raya Halonen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Poway over Aliso Niguel

Poway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 48-35 to the Aliso Niguel Wolverines.

Poway's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raya Halonen, who posted 12 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya McGowan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Aliso Niguel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Poway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-61 defeat against Carlsbad on the 10th. Aliso Niguel has also already played their next matchup, a 51-38 loss against San Juan Hills on the 7th.
