Football Recap: Kae'andre Sayles Key Part of Team Effort in Eagles Win

Ellison won the last time they faced Killeen and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles secured a 19-14 W over the Kangaroos. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Kangaroos on their field since November 2, 2018.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ellison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kae'Andre Sayles, who picked up 101 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Marlyn Smith was another key passer, throwing for 192 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ellison's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Dorian Rhoten was the leader with two. Another thorn in Killeen's side was Renaldo Johnson, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory got Ellison back to even at 1-1. As for Killeen, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Ellison will be playing at home against Shoemaker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 993 yards in their previous games. As for Killeen, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Belton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
