Rustburg scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 34-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Minutemen. The Red Devils gained 156 more yards on the day, but it was the Minutemen that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Rustburg lost, don't look at Eric Pannell. Despite the final result, he rushed for 50 yards and one score, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown. Aiden Sax also deserves some recognition as he posted his first receiving yards of the season.

Rustburg dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Liberty, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Rustburg will square off against Liberty Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty, they will take on Brookville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
