Softball Recap: Holy Family's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Holy Family waltzed into their contest on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Longmont Trojans 11-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Emmaline Humphreys made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Giuliana Magnetti and Kaiya Devereux did most of the damage at the plate: Magnetti got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while Devereux went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Magnetti a new career-high. Carly Turney was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Holy Family kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Holy Family's record now sits at 17-3. As for Longmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15-1 record this season.

Holy Family will head out to take on Monarch on Tuesday. As for Longmont, they will be playing at home against Mead at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
