Football Game Preview: Marshall Barristers vs. Eagle Rock Eagles

Marshall hasn't had much luck against Eagle Rock recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Barristers will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eagle Rock will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Marshall extended their winning streak to six on Friday. Everything went the Barristers' way against Jefferson as they made off with a 42-18 win.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wesley Mejia, who rushed for 53 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 34 receiving yards and one touchdown. That's the most receiving yards Mejia has posted since back in August of 2024. Edwin Manzano was another key rusher, rushing for 88 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Marshall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Eagle Rock got the win against Marquez on Friday by a conclusive 34-10. With the Eagles ahead 27-3 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Marshall's record is now 6-0. As for Eagle Rock, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Marshall took a serious blow against Eagle Rock in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 48-6. Can the Barristers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
