Baseball Game Preview: Savannah Country Day Hornets vs. Bryan County Redskins

The Savannah Country Day Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Bryan County Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Savannah Country Day came up short against Vidalia and fell 9-6. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brooks Kleinpeter put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Kleinpeter wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Sammons, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Bryan County also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Islands by a score of 12-8. The Redskins haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Cooper Ennis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Bryan County: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise. AJ Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Savannah Country Day's record now sits at 5-19. As for Bryan County, their record is now 13-13.

Savannah Country Day came out on top in a nail-biter against Bryan County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
