Preview: DeKalb Barons vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints

The DeKalb Barons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, DeKalb beat Angola 28-21. The victory was just what DeKalb needed coming off of a 43-14 loss in their prior match.

Caiden Hinkle had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 55 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Hinkle was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Bell, who picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Angola to a paltry 110 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to DeKalb's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Bowen Minehart.

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Fort Wayne Wayne by a score of 21-10 on Friday.

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Springer out in front who threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Caleb Lehrman did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.

DeKalb has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
