Baseball Game Preview: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Callaway Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Rutland will face off against Callaway. Rutland will look to defend their home field on Friday against Callaway at 4:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Rutland has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Callaway will arrive with five straight wins.

Rutland fell victim to Callaway and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Cavaliers, falling 10-0.

For Callaway's part, Blake Harrington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Callaway's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Rutland, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rutland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Callaway struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
