Basketball Recap: Faith Baptist Falls to Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica in First Game of Season

Faith Baptist unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 37-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica Seawolves on Tuesday. The Contenders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seawolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Faith Baptist's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Allie Melton, who posted 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, and Kristen Cruz, who earned eight points and nine boards. Melton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Looking ahead, Faith Baptist will face off against Cate at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica, they will square off against Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
