South Central recap Sept. 26, 2012
St. Peter extended the longest winning streak in South Central this week by beating St. James, 24-8. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Saints.
The Saints made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,418 from 13,078. The improvement came about via a 24-8 victory over St. James last week.
New Ulm's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Mulder threw for 102 yards and Sam Miller had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Grant Kannegiesser chipped in 45 yards. Tyler Dittrich helped New Ulm's passing attack out by catching two balls for 26 yards.
New Ulm's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mulder has thrown for 422 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Isaiah Johnson has 13 catches for 134 yards. Jackson Yackley leads the league in rushing with 288 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Blue Earth takes on Waseca. As it stands, the Buccaneers are in second, while the Bluejays are in third.
