Softball Game Recap: West Plains Zizzers vs. Poplar Bluff Mules

West Plains had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it five. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Poplar Bluff Mules, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Zizzers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mules from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

As for Poplar Bluff, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3. The result was nothing new for the Mules, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Poplar Bluff's part, the result came thanks to Elizabeth Blancett's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.

At the plate, Lillie Johnson and Kyleigh Edmundson did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Edmundson went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Valenzuela, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. West Plains will venture away from home to take on Bolivar at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Poplar Bluff, they will challenge Chaffee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
