Softball Recap: Stockbridge Tigers vs. Eagle's Landing Eagles

Stockbridge extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-13. They came up short against the Eagle's Landing Eagles, falling 25-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-10 back in August.

Alexandria Williams and Ciara Hall stepped up to the plate in a big way. Williams went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Hall went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Williams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Lakayla Helms was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Eagle's Landing, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Eagle's Landing's side, Kyleigh Cowains made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Cowains was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Eagle's Landing got a massive performance out of Lynette Herring, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Herring a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayla Bailey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Stockbridge will venture away from home to challenge Jones County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Eagle's Landing, they will head out to take on Jonesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
