Baseball Recap: Augusta Christian Comes Up Short

Augusta Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Hammond Skyhawks, falling 12-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Skyhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 last Tuesday.

Augusta Christian got a good showing from Jayden Stone, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Stone has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Augusta Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Duckworth, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Manny Wilkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Augusta Christian now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Hammond, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Coming up, Augusta Christian will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Fox Creek at 12:00 p.m. As for Hammond, they are taking a road trip to take on Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on March 28th.
