Soccer Game Preview: Monterey vs. Hollister

The Monterey Dores will be playing at home against the Hollister Haybalers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monterey's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monterey is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Fremont on Saturday. Monterey fell 3-1 to Fremont. While losing is never fun, the Dores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Firebirds are ranked 173rd).

Monterey's goal came courtesy of Savanna Licea, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Hollister was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Rancho San Juan could gain the upper hand on Monday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Hollister's draw makes their record 5-3-1 this season. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
