Softball Recap: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. University Bulldogs

Resurrection Christian had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-10 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the University Bulldogs. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 25-3 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Portia Hattig made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for University, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 20-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

On University's side, Jasi Cole made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cole has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Bergen Duarte was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Mia Whitcomb also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Resurrection Christian will face off against rival Eaton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, University is set to take on their familiar foe Strasburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
