Basketball Game Preview: Ferndale Yellow Jackets vs. Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs

The Ferndale Yellow Jackets and the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

After dropping their season opener at home, Claysburg-Kimmel is headed out to face a Yellow Jackets team ready to give their home crowd a win. Ferndale took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rockwood on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Ferndale's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lydia Hyland, who posted eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals, and Geonna Riffle, who scored 12 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Claysburg-Kimmel had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 46-37 to Meyersdale.

Ferndale didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Claysburg-Kimmel when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 37-31 win.
