Baseball Recap: Eastside Victorious

Eastside's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Madison County Red Raiders 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 3, 2024.

Braydon Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Eastside's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-15 when he doesn't). Chase Jordan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Eastside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

Eastside's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Madison County, their loss was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-19.

Eastside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
