Basketball Game Preview: CORE Butte Lynx vs. Plumas Charter Warriors

The CORE Butte Lynx will head out to take on the Plumas Charter Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. CORE Butte is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, CORE Butte lost to Redding Christian on the road by a 56-42 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lynx can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1184th, while the Lions are ranked 509th).

The losing side was boosted by Brianna Hayes, who posted 23 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lali Gonzalez, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, Plumas Charter hadn't done well against Loyalton recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Plumas Charter came out on top in a nail-biter against Loyalton, sneaking past 39-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Plumas Charter's win came from a few key players CORE Butte will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaycee Pew, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 18 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Hymas, who scored six points and 15 boards.

Plumas Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive contests.

Plumas Charter's record is now 9-13. As for CORE Butte, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
