Baseball Game Preview: Southington Blue Knights vs. Plainville Blue Devils

Southington is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Plainville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Blue Knights will host the Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Southington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Southington proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Sunday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Berlin 4-2.

Bryce Zielinski looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Southington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainville). They put the hurt on Somers with a sharp 13-1 victory on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blue Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Southington's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Plainville, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Everything went Southington's way against Plainville when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Southington made off with a 7-0 win. Do the Blue Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
