Verndale added to the longest winning streak in Pheasant - North (9 Man) this week by beating Isle, 60-20. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Pirates.
Underwood made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 285 from 359. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 21-0 victory over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross last week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy's Jacob Isaac and Daniel Nersten have proven to be a lethal combination. Isaac has thrown for 1,718 yards this season, while Nersten has 39 catches for 518 yards. Ashby's Blake Ohren leads the league in rushing yards with 673.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Rockets and Verndale. Underwood comes into the matchup ranked eighth in the state, while Michael Mahlen's team ranks fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Chuck Ross' team takes on the Pirates. The Rockets have allowed 252 points this season, while Verndale has given up 137.
The Pirates led Pheasant - North (9 Man) in scoring this week by notching 60 points on the Huskies.
