Basketball Recap: Steele Canyon Cougars vs. Valhalla Norsemen

In what's become a running theme this season, the Steele Canyon Cougars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 66-35 win over Valhalla. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-17.

Steele Canyon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Deanna Guerrero out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Guerrero hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Arianna Sanchez, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Valhalla's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Matos, who scored 13 points. Ava Miles was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Valhalla struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Steele Canyon racked up 19 assists.

Steele Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Valhalla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.
