There's no place like home for Moriarty, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Grants Pirates 13-12. For the Pintos, this counts as revenge for the 19-6 win the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mario Romero and Noah Wolf. Romero rushed for 91 yards and one score on only 11 carries while Wolf rushed for 37 yards and one TD. An impressive showing, but Romero really ramped things up playing D: he made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Moriarty's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Marques Romero with three. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven.

Despite the loss, Grants saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julian Fernandez rushed for 120 yards on only 11 carries. Fernandez's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Coudy Melonas made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Moriarty's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average over those games. As for Grants, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
