Baseball Game Preview: Hephzibah Rebels vs. West Laurens Raiders

The Hephzibah Rebels are taking a road trip to face off against the West Laurens Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hephzibah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

While Hephzibah's victory against Greene County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tigers 10-9.

James Renew looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rodney Patterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ayden Hughes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, West Laurens put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Richmond Academy with a sharp 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

West Laurens' record is now 4-0. As for Hephzibah, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Hephzibah might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from West Laurens in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
