Softball Recap: Northwest Extends Winning Streak to 25

With a playoff win on the line, Northwest rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Ralston Rams by a score of 7-2. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their 25th in a row.

Graclyn Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Northwest let Abby Dinkelman and Libby Loman run wild. Dinkelman went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Loman went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Becca Dinkelman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Northwest's win bumped their record up to 27-2. As for Ralston, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-8.

Coming up, Northwest will face off against Blair at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Ralston, they will challenge Norris at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 2.8, the Titans 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
