Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-13. They came up short against the Oak Hill Raiders, falling 24-1. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Madison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Lennon, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Oak Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Oak Hill's side, Joe Greenwood and Braden Dubuc made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Greenwood tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Dubuc struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Greenwood posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Greenwood got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Dubuc got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Dubuc is becoming a predictor of Oak Hill's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Braden New was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Kailed Littlefield was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will head out to take on Boothbay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.85 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oak Hill, they are taking a road trip to square off against Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
