Soccer Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hillcrest Trojans. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Bison couldn't quite close it out.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 3-9-4. As for Hillcrest, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11-3.

Liberty and Hillcrest could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Liberty will square off against Valley View at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 447 places (514 vs. 67). Meanwhile, Hillcrest (ranked 585th) will meet Canyon Springs (ranked 240th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
