Basketball Recap: Lacey Quintanilla Key Part of a Team Effort in Sundevils Win

Mt. Carmel won the last time they faced San Dieguito Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mt. Carmel Sundevils walked away with a 53-41 win over the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sundevils.

Mt. Carmel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lacey Quintanilla, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Quintanilla has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Grace Weede, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Mt. Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for San Dieguito Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Mt. Carmel will welcome Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Dieguito Academy, they will head out to face off against Sage Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
