Basketball Recap: McDowell Comes Up Short

McDowell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The match between them and the Frewsburg Bears didn't end well, with the McDowell Trojans falling 69-55. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 398th in Pennsylvania, while the Bears are ranked 53rd in New York).

Leading Frewsburg to victory were Ava Jimerson and Jadyn Trocki. Jimerson went 9 of 14 on her way to 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Trocki went 9 for 13 en route to 20 points in addition to six assists and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Trocki a new career-high in blocks (four). Teghan Trocki was another key player, putting up six points.

McDowell's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Frewsburg, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

McDowell will welcome Cathedral Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Frewsburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Cassadaga Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Frewsburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.8 points per game this season.
