Football Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. St. Rita Mustangs + Official Tickets

The Leo Lions will head out to challenge the St. Rita Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leo will be strutting in after a victory while St. Rita will be coming in after a defeat.

Leo is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing De La Salle: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lions blew the Meteors out of the water with a 46-13 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 27-point advantage.

Ellison Cox was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 155 yards and a pair of TDs.

Cox was just one part of a punishing run game: Leo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 234 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, St. Rita played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 48-24 to Nazareth Academy. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Roadrunners are ranked third).

The win got Leo back to even at 3-3. As for St. Rita, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Leo took a serious blow against St. Rita in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 42-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
