Basketball Game Preview: San Fernando Tigers vs. Sylmar Spartans

The San Fernando Tigers and the Sylmar Spartans will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Sylmar is facing San Fernando at the wrong time: San Fernando suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday and they're likely out for redemption. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 51-28.

Meanwhile, Sylmar suffered their closest defeat since February 2, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Chatsworth by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (58), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Sylmar has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points over those games. As for San Fernando, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.

San Fernando strolled past Sylmar in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 51-35. Will San Fernando repeat their success, or does Sylmar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
