Baseball Recap: Madison Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Geauga, Madison was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Lake Catholic Cougars by a score of 9-5. For the Blue Streaks, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Noah Yonchak tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Madison is 4-1-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Eddy Gvora was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Connor McCollum was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Madison's win bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Lake Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Madison will challenge Benedictine at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Catholic, they will take on Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
