Softball Recap: Sonoraville Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Sonoraville took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against LaFayette, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Phoenix's pitchers stepped up to hand the Ramblers a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. This was payback for the Phoenix, who suffered a 7-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lila Mullinax looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Sonoraville's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Mulkey, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Sonoraville's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for LaFayette, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Sonoraville will square off against Winder-Barrow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for LaFayette, they will be playing at home against Ringgold at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
