Pinole Valley lost against Salesian College Preparatory last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pinole Valley Spartans took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salesian College Preparatory Pride. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Salesian College Preparatory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiya Sawyer, who posted 12 points along with five assists and four steals. Sawyer has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Parilla, who earned ten points and three steals.

Pinole Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Salesian College Preparatory, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-8.

Pinole Valley and Salesian College Preparatory should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Pinole Valley (ranked 199th) will meet Bethel (ranked 651st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinole Valley is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Salesian College Preparatory will square off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 422 places (86 vs. 508).
