It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Portal ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Jenkins County War Eagles 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won five matches in a row.

Portal pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jenkins County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Coming up, Jenkins County will head out to challenge Burke County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Portal will be paying especially close attention to the War Eagles' contest: after the War Eagles faces off against the Bears, they'll take on Portal again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
