Basketball Recap: Vacaville Christian Comes Up Short

Vacaville Christian suffered their biggest loss since February 15, 2024 on Monday. They had to suffer through a 64-22 loss at the hands of the Woodland Christian Cardinals. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now lost six in a row.

Vacaville Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Elena Vizcay and Danielle Ruff. Vizcay posted eight points and four steals, while Ruff had six points and six rebounds. Vizcay is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Evelyn Liau also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Vacaville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Woodland Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keziah Maldonado-Lemus out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Elena Ganyo, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points along with six boards and four steals.

Vacaville Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Woodland Christian, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Vacaville Christian has already played their next contest, a 54-18 victory against Golden Sierra on the 29th. As for Woodland Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-18 win against Lindhurst on the 29th.
