Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Panthers vs. Quaker Valley Quakers

The Riverside Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Quaker Valley Quakers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverside will be strutting in after a win while Quaker Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a proper cat-fight when Riverside took on Shenango on Friday. Riverside simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Shenango 46-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Wildcats since December 8, 2017.

Meanwhile, Quaker Valley took a blow against Shaler Area on Friday, falling 54-24. While losing is never fun, the Quakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Titans are ranked 63rd).

Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Quaker Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Riverside strolled past Quaker Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2016 by a score of 61-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
