While Waterloo's victory against Belleville West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Maroons 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Maroons: they've now won three in a row.

Waterloo got a great performance from Cannon Richard as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Luedeman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Belleville West, their loss dropped their record down to 19-12-1.

Waterloo and Belleville West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Bulldogs will challenge Civic Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (30 vs. 140). Meanwhile, Belleville West (ranked 73rd) will meet Belleville East (ranked 242nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
