The Wayne County War EaglesLady War Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the George County Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Wayne County's victory against Washington County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The War EaglesLady War Eagles never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. The War EaglesLady War Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Talon Tate, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Washington County off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dallen Holifield, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, George County made easy work of Forest Hill on Tuesday and carried off a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Forest Hill's batters probably weren't too happy with Bradyn Havard, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up zero walks). Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Havard.
At the plate, Cooper Ward was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Cayler Havard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
George County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Wayne County's record is now 4-2. As for George County, their record now sits at 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wayne County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like George County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wayne County suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to George County when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can the War EaglesLady War Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
