Basketball Recap: Southwest EC Takes a Loss

Southwest EC was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-28 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holtville Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent defeat being a 37-25 loss last Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holtville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mallorie Kellum, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kellum has scored at least a third of Holtville's points. Kadence Toten was another key player, putting up five points along with 17 boards and eight blocks.

Southwest EC's record is now 3-24. As for Holtville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-16.

As of now, neither Southwest EC nor Holtville have any future games scheduled.
