Basketball Game Preview: Oceanside Pirates vs. Eastlake Titans

The Oceanside Pirates will take on the Eastlake Titans at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Oceanside is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since January 16, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Imperial by a score of 49-47. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Tigers are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, Eastlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-40 heartbreaker at the hands of Bonita Vista.

Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Oceanside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Oceanside was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastlake in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 47-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oceanside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
