Soccer Game Preview: McLane vs. Sunnyside

The McLane Highlanders will take on the Sunnyside Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McLane is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.4 goals per game this season.

Sunnyside better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when McLane really get things going. McLane was the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over Sanger West on Wednesday. The result kept the Highlanders happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 4th.

They hit Sanger West with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Celeste Thahane (2), Khloe Salinas, Alina Smith, and Erika Aguilar.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside entered their tilt with Roosevelt on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Rough Riders onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. The Wildcats' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Sunnyside pushed their record up to 8-5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for McLane, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5-2 record this season.
