Baseball Recap: Georgia Military College Takes a Loss

Georgia Military College had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 11-16 to make it five. They came up short against the Johnson County Trojans, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-5 loss on Thursday.

As for Johnson County, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-4. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Johnson County's part, S. Newsome looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Newsome has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Johnson County got a massive performance out of S. Stapleton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was J. Rowland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Georgia Military College will face off against Miller County at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. Johnson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
